Signed First Edition

Indulge yourself with the one-of-a-kind The Art of Drag—a chunky and funky, heavily-illustrated, dripping-with-ink tour of all things drag, available signed by the author with a free artwork print.*

Art of Drag

A visual introduction to all things drag, The Art of takes you on a tour through the ancient roots of drag, key moments in its history, and its contemporary explosion into the mainstream. From kabuki to club kids, from Shakespeare to the Stonewall Riots, from vaudeville to The Vixen—with Harlem ballroom and the House of LaBeija and the Boulet Brothers and drag kings and Drag Race and Divine—The Art of Drag sits explanatory text beside gorgeous artwork from illustrators including Sofie Birkin, Helen Li and Jasjyot Singh Hans. Offering a broad, inclusive, international view of the many-splendoured world of drag, this is a beautiful and fun yet serious look at the hugely popular phenomenon that doesn’t shy away from its experimental, disruptive, freedom-fighting DNA. It’s informative, illuminating, nuanced—and at every step an electric celebration.

And the object itself is pure opulence: artwork-to-the-edges imagery from a host of talented illustrators, with eye-popping neon ink, foiled cover details and an open coptic binding wrapped in a hardback jacket. It’s a gorgeous addition to your shelves, and a wonderful gift for anyone into the art of drag and the art of books.
