The Sun on My Head: Geovani Martins in conversation with Misha Glenny

Tuesday 27th August 2019 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event

Join Brazilian literary sensation Geovani Martins on a rare visit to the UK, as he sits down with journalist Misha Glenny (McMafia) to discuss his powerful new collection of stories The Sun on My Head.

Martins will take us to Rio's largest favela, Rocinha, to explore the lives and stories of its inhabitants. Focusing on the struggles of teenage boys, he will evoke the particular hardships that come with navigating the anguish of teenage life amidst the violence and deprivation of the less favoured parts of the Brazilian metropolis.

This event is supported by The Favela Foundation—a charity working towards educational and socially sustainable projects in the favelas of Brazil—and will followed by a Q&A and book signing.

Tickets: £14 including a copy of The Sun on My Head (RRP £10.99) / £8 standard / £5 Student or Foyalty member*. When purchasing a Student or Foyalty ticket, you'll need to bring a valid in-date Student card or Foyalty card with you.
