We are delighted to host the ceremony for the Republic of Consciousness Prize 2019—dedicated to supporting, promoting and celebrating small presses in the UK and Ireland, the Prize rewards the best fiction of the year from a publisher with fewer than five employees.

Join authors, publishers and fellow readers for a drinks reception celebrating the shortlisted presses, culminating in the announcement of the 2019 winner from founder Neil Griffiths.

This year’s shortlist, in alphabetical order by title:

Doppelgänger by Daša Drndić, tr. Celia Hawkesworth & S. D. Curtis (Istros)

Kitch by Anthony Joseph (Peepal Tree Press)

Lucia by Alex Pheby (Galley Beggar Press)

Murmur by Will Eaves (CB Editions)

Sweet Home by Wendy Erskine (Stinging Fly)

The Republic of Consciousness is sponsored by the University of East Anglia through the UEA Publishing Project and the Times Literary Supplement, and is generously supported by Arts Council England.
