Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event
In support of the LGBT charity FLAGG, Patrick Gale will be discussing his new book, Take Nothing With You, with novelist Tiffany Murray.
Patrick Gale is the renowned author of the best-selling novels A Place Called Winter and Rough Music. His new novel, Take Nothing With You, is a story of boyhood and self-discovery, music and emotion. In 1970s Weston-Super-Mare, 10-year-old Eustace begins to learn to play the cello, discovering as he does a way to harness the volatile turbulence of his inner life. Things can never be so simple, however, and Eustace must learn that the passage to adulthood he craves is one fraught with rejection and humiliation. Drawing on his own boyhood experiences, Gale sets out to explore the collision between youthful hero worship and the messy world of adult love.
Patrick Gale will be joined in conversation by his long-time friend and fellow novelist Tiffany Murray. The event will take place at Bristol Central Library and is being held in support of FLAGG, a charity that works to promote and support understanding between LGBT people and their families.
