The inaugural In Other Words prize was held in 2017 when four Honour Titles were announced by then Children's Laureate Chris Riddell and Carnegie Award-winning author Kevin Brooks at a special event at the Bologna Book Fair.
The 2018 shortlist was announced on 8th March and it includes stories from internationally acclaimed authors; an adventure with a badly-behaved gang of thieves set in Finland; a story about immigration and tolerance set in Switzerland; a laugh out loud tale of dinosaurs running amok in Iceland and more.
The shortlisted titles have been partially translated for UK publishers to review and English language rights are now available to buy. A marketing bursary of £1500 is available from BookTrust to support the UK publication of each of these titles.
The three titles named as Honour Titles at an event at the London Book Fair in April 2018 are: The Robbersons by Siri Kolu, Alaska by Anna Woltz and Red Stars by David Marsinotto.
A Good Day for Climbing a Tree by Jaco Jacobs
Elise and the Second-hand Dog by Bjarne Reuter
The Raven's Children by Yulia Yakoleva
Sputterfly by Simon van der Gees (not currently in print)
